National Harbor’s Popular “Movies on The Potomac” Returns May 1
Featuring date night movies on Thursdays and family movies on Sundays through September 28
NATIONAL HARBOR, Md., April 9, 2025—National Harbor brings back its popular free Movies on the Potomac series from May 1 through September 28. Every Thursday (“date night”) at 7 p.m. and Sunday (“family night”) at 6 p.m. guests are invited to gather in front of the Plaza Screen on the waterfront (150 National Plaza, National Harbor) to watch recent blockbuster releases and classic films. Movie goers are encouraged to bring chairs and order take-out from one of the many restaurants right around the plaza.
Thursday night (date night) movies kick off with on May 1 with “Fool’s Gold,” followed by “Wicked,” (May 8); “Men in Black” (May 15); “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” (May 22); “Akeelah and the Bee,” (May 29). Movies in June include “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” “Black Panther” and “Pele: Birth of a Legend.” July movies include “Forrest Gump,” “Fly Me to the Moon,” “Bob Marley: One Love,” “Nacho Libre” and “Captain America: Brave New World.” August brings “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim,” “Instant Family,” “Pitch Perfect” and “King Richard.” September includes “Lion,” “Police Academy 2” and “Selena.”
The Sunday (family night) lineup includes “Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) on Sunday, May 4, followed by “The Wild Robot” on May 11; “Moana 2” on May 18; and “Big Hero 6” on May 25. June movies include “Elemental” on June 1; “Mufasa” on June 8; “Three Men and a Baby,” on June 15; “Sonic 3” on June 22 and “Paddington in Peru” on June 29. July family movies include “Kicking & Screaming,” “Dog Man,” “Piece by Piece” and “Wicked Singalong.” August will showcase “Snow White” (2025); “If,” “Harold & the Purple Crayon” and “Cinderella” (2021.) September family movies include “Minecraft,” “The Garfield Movie” and “Dora Lost City of Gold.”
“Our summer movies have become a tradition for many couples, groups and families,” said Deborah Topcik, senior director of marketing at National Harbor, “As usual, we have some blockbuster movies along with some popular classics. It’s the perfect location to bring a blanket, pick up dinner from one of our more than forty restaurants and dine outside while watching a movie on our beautiful riverfront.”
