National Harbor’s Free Military Concert Series, “Salute the Sunset” Returns on May 11 through September 11
Salute the Sunset on Saturdays and specialty concerts throughout the summer
NATIONAL HARBOR, Md., April 16, 2024— National Harbor announced its 2024 military concert series. “Salute the Sunset” kicks off on Saturday, May 11 with the U.S. Navy Band Sea Chanters. The series continues through Wednesday, September 11. Concerts are at 7 p.m. on the Waterfront District’s plaza stage (150 National Plaza) and are free and open to the public.
National Harbor has a long tradition of hosting military bands on Saturday nights. This year, in addition to those concerts, they’ll be hosting special performances on June 14 for Flag Day/Army birthday (U.S. Army “Pershing’s Own” Concert Band); July 4 (U.S. Air Force Airmen of Note); and a concert on September 11 honoring our first responders (U.S. Navy Band Country Current).
Being so close to military bases, National Harbor has a special relationship with our service members. They commissioned sculptor Ivan Schwartz to create statues to highlight U.S. military branches and developed an amphitheater, Spirit Park featuring one of the largest flying American flags. The Sept. 11 concert will be held in the patriotic park, located at 115 National Plaza.
Concert goers are encouraged to grab food from one of National Harbor’s many restaurants and enjoy a picnic along with the music. Veterans and active military personal should visit the deals page to learn more about offers and National Harbor veteran owned businesses.
Following May 11, performances are by U.S. Army Rappers (May 18,) U.S. Air Force Band Deployment Group (June 1); U.S. Air Force Band Airmen of Note (June 8, July 13); U.S. Army “Pershing’s Own” Concert Band (June 14); U.S. Air Force Concert Band (June 15, 29 and July 27, Aug. 10); The United States Army Chorus (June 22); U.S. Air Force Band Max Impact (July 6, Aug. 3); 257th U.S. Army Band, D.C. National Guard, “The Band of the Nation’s Capital” (July 17); U.S. Air Force Band Singing Sergeants (July 20, Aug.24); U.S. Navy Band Cruisers (Aug. 31); U.S. Navy Concert Band (Sept. 7) and U.S. Navy Band Country Current (Sept. 11.)
