Fogo de Chão is the leading Brazilian steakhouse specializing in fire-roasting high-quality meats since 1979 utilizing the centuries-old Southern Brazilian cooking technique of churrasco. The name means campfire or fire on the ground which relates to the restaurant’s focus on a culinary tradition known as churrasco (a process of grilling meat over a fire on a long skewer.) Instead of ordering a whole cut of meat, diners get to taste a little bit of everything. In addition, there are fresh salads and traditional Brazilian cocktails and dishes including feijoada. The 12,154 sq. ft. restaurant will open at 141 National Plaza with a space that overlooks the water and includes a spacious patio.
It'Sugar was founded in 2006 by candy veteran Jeff Rubin. Since that time, the brand has grown to more than 100 stores in 26 states. It considers itself a “retailtainer,” with its specialty candy stores offering more than just candy. Instead, they offer sugar innovations that celebrate light-hearted rebellion. The store prides itself on the experience it provides. It’Sugar will open with 3,537 sq. ft. at 150 National Plaza (former Peeps and Company’s space) in 2022.
“We are proud to be able to bring these businesses to National Harbor and Prince George’s County,” said Kimli Cross, vice president of leasing for Peterson Companies (owners and managers of National Harbor). “As one of the region’s prime economic engines, we’re happy to build on this unique destination where residents and visitors can dine, shop, stay, be entertained as well as live and work.”
Fogo de Chão and It’Sugar join 60 other food establishments, specialty boutiques and shops, gourmet stores, entertainment venues and national brands at National Harbor.
With more than 2,500 residents and traffic of 19.5 million annually, it’s no surprise that National Harbor is a popular place for tenants. With its prime riverfront location, easy access and convenient parking combined with a location that’s minutes from Washington, D.C.; Northern Virginia and Maryland, National Harbor offers a unique experience.
